e-Learning Program in Tribal Ashram Schools, Telangana covered in ‘Namasthe Telangana’ on 17/02/2019
LIVE Teaching with satellite link
45 minutes long sessions from e-School Studio
Experimentally implemented in Nalgonda district Peddavoora and Devarakonda DNT Ashram schools
From next year onwards, will get implemented in all Ashram schools
Recognizing the importance of Digital Education, the Tribal Welfare Department, Telangana has equipped its Ashram Schools with the LED Television Sets last year. This gave a big boost to the department – as the digital classes rewarded the students with a good success rate and quality education.
This huge success paved a way for the implementation of a new phase in Digital Education with “The e-Learning Classroom program”, to cater to the needs of students of the present era. The e-Learning Classroom program is implemented as a pilot project in 50 Tribal Ashram Schools statewide – in the first phase.
Among the 13 Ashram Schools in the Nalgonda District, the Boys Ashram School, Pedavoora and the DNT BOYS Ashram School, Devarakonda were the two schools chosen as a part of the first phase. This e-Learning Classrooms program is being implemented for the 6, 7, 8, and 9 grade students this academic year. For grade 10, e-Learning classroom program will get implemented from the next academic year.
Every grade is allotted a period per day for this class and
the time table is accordingly prepared. Each grade will have one subject per
day with class duration of 45 minutes. LIVE teaching is done through a Central
Studio setup in the Tribal Welfare Office, Masab Tank, Telangana. Each class is
taught LIVE by the expert faculty and the classes are broadcast through
satellite connectivity. A control room is setup in the studio to associate the
animation related to the topic and monitor the connectivity. Both the teacher
and the animation are visible to the students, on a big screen. However, the
content is displayed at large in the backdrop and the teacher is displayed at
one corner of the screen. An IT Coordinator is assigned at every school to
operate the equipment. The Government is investing 1.50 lakhs for this at each
school.
A huge round of appreciation came from the Headmasters. They
said that the lively animation is eye – catching and the students are showing a
lot of interest in these classes.
Answers to Queries
are also LIVE
This system also gives the student an option to clear his/her
doubt on the spot during the LIVE class. This is possible by “the two-way
interaction” option.
Each student is provided with a clicker. The clicker
consists of different buttons for giving answers, raising query, rating the
lesson etc…
During the class time, if maximum queries are raised, the
particular topic will be taught again with a different dimension.
e-Class Timings:
7th Grade – 11:30 am to 12:15 pm
6th Grade – 12:20 pm to 01:05 pm
9th Grade – 02:00 pm to 02:45 pm
8th Grade – 02:50 pm to 03:35 pm
The LIVE classes on the big screen are very interesting. Each topic is explained clearly with excellent lively animation. This is helping us to understand the topic completely. We are getting our doubts clarified then and there through LIVE interaction. I hope this will definitely help us to get through the competitive exams as well.
– Srinu, 9th Standard, DNT Hostel, Devarakonda
E-School LIVE classes are definitely enhancing the concentration of students. They are eagerly waiting for the class and the class is very interesting. With exams around the corner, students were excited to take a few tips from Hon’ble Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modiji through the program “Pariksha Pe Charcha” that was aired in all the e-Learning Classrooms of Telangana.
Around 2,000 students, teachers and parents from across the country participated in the interactive session with the honorable Prime Minister at the Talkatora Stadium.
Regarding exam stress Modiji said,
“Our learning cannot be reduced to exams only. Our education must equip us to face various challenges of life as well. I sincerely believe that anything that challenges us, polishes us too. If there is nothing to test us, then we become complacent. There must always be something to challenge us…”
“Exams are important in life, but one should not be stressed by it. Ask yourselves if this an exam of your life or is it just an exam for a particular grade like Class 10 or 12. Once you know the answer to this, your pressure will reduce”
In the Telangana State, currently, 50 Tribal Ashram Schools are provided with e-Learning Classroom facility through Two-way VSAT. More than 12,000 students watched the LIVE ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0’ program aired from New Delhi!
